360° Content in the 1890s?!
Believe it or not, 360° content has been around since 1898. (the first mass-produced 360° panoramic camera was the Al-Vista in America in 1898.), but what is 360° content? Mostly focused on video content, 360° videos are also known as immersive videos, so a camera (whether real or virtual) captures every angle of the environment and creates a visually interactive scene, 3D in a way. Whether it’s a photo or a video, on platforms that support 360° view, you will be able to interact with the content and change the angle you’re looking at it.

Advertising using 360° Content
With the biggest advertising platforms being optimized for 360° content (Facebook and Youtube), many companies have decided to go immersive whether it’s to showcase their products or simply nudge and bond with their existing audiences.
The versatility of immersive content, 360° videos especially, is one of the biggest benefits there is to it. We wrote a piece earlier with some great examples of brands using immersive content, you check that out here: https://2immersive4u.com/2021/03/17/five-brands-using-immersive-content-for-marketing/
Another great benefit of 360° content is that it’s interactive, so your audience can change the angle from which they’re experiencing the content. This will bring more trust and more engagement from your audience, whether it’s to promote a song or a product.
A wonderful benefit of immersive content is how it can be repurposed for other platforms. You can view the content from a different angle so you’re getting a few videos in one. While editing, you can use those different perspectives to highlight objects, characters, or even whole environments, all from one piece of content. Repurposing has been done in marketing and advertising for decades now so using one video in over a hundred different ways is only a plus in our book.
Storytelling with a 360° video is what will take you apart from all other 360° content out there. This is also something that makes us different from other creators of immersive content. You can check out our process here: https://2immersive4u.com/our-process/
360° Content has been on the rise the past decade, in all industries, from music videos and art performances to advertising drinks and gadgets. Whatever type of advertising ideas you’re pursuing, making them immersive would be the next step in your brand’s storytelling journey.
